Morning Recess Centers We now have interactive centers in the library at Morning Recess. These centers include Lego, Scrabble, 50 and 100 Piece Jigsaw Puzzles, U.S. States Wooden Puzzle, and Little Bits Synth Circuit Kit (Sound Center).
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS Laie School will once again be participating in Kahuku Public Library's BATTLE OF THE BOOKS! The books are in the same place as last year, on the brown wooden shelf, under the clock. The top shelf has Grades 1-2 level books, the second shelf has Grades 3-4 level books, and the third shelf has Grade 5-6 level books. Students are free to check out books now. In fact, some students have already gotten ahead and started checking out books. . Way to Go Team Laie!

Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge Laie Elementary School will once again participate in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge. It started on May 9 and will end on September 9. This year the theme is "Be a Reading Superhero." Each student will be given a user name and password card. It will be the same color as their library card. Every time students read, they go online and record how many minutes they have read (scholastic.com/summer) or tab at the top of this page. For the past three years, our school has had the most minutes read of all the public schools in the state of Hawaii. Each year we have increased our minutes: 2013 - 37, 804 minutes 2014 - 63, 170 minutes 2015 - 100, 932 minutes Let's do it again this year!
