Scholastic Happy Camper Book Fair March 13 - 17, 2017. Laie School had our second book fair of the year. It was on March 13 - 17, 2017 in the library. It was the week before Spring Break. This was so students would have books to read during Spring Break. Thank you to all who came to support our Book Fair. Don't forget our Buy One Get One Free book fair is on May 8-12, 2017.
Rewards of Reading! Once again, Laie School participated in the The Old Spaghetti Factory: Rewards of Reading! program during Spring Break. Each student was given a book mark. After students read five books, they recorded it on the book mark with their name and parent signature. Now students can take the book mark to The Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant and receive a free kid's meal. Go to: http://www.osf.com/kids-menu/ to see kids menu. What a great way to enjoy Spring Break!
Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge Laie Elementary School will once again will be participating in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge. It will start on Monday, May 8, 2017 and go throughout the Summer until September 8, 2017. Each student will be given a user name and password to log on and record their minutes. It will be the same color as their library card. When students log in, they will have to change their password. It is recommended that the password be their IXL or TeenBiz or KidBiz password so it will be easy to remember. Every year our school has participated, we have increased our minutes: 2013 - 37, 804 minutes 2014 - 63, 170 minutes 2015 - 100, 932 minutes 2016 - 371,723 minutes Last year we were the school who had the most minutes read in the state of Hawaii. We also ranked 32 out of 50 states in the nation. This year, let's try to increase out national ranking! This year, let's read more minutes than we did last year! We can do it!
